Hi, I am Tobias
I'm an amateur and a tinkerer. I'm also a professional architect (SAR/MSA) based in Sweden. At work, I mostly design residential buildings. In my spare time I go down rabbit holes. I consider myself a rabbit-hole enthusiast.
I'm an avid note-taker and much of my life is mirrored in notebooks and plain text. How else is one to keep track of one's ideas (and objects…)? I use GNU Emacs (incidentally first released the year I was born) to write, organize, email, and do a bit of programming on the side. It might look a bit awkward to let others know which text editor you use on a first date – but if you know you know.
For someone who loves words, I also tend to carry a camera around quite a bit. I also make sounds: some by raising my voice when needed, some are sonic experiments that only a parent could love. Not that I would know, since being a real parent is being totally blind to the fact that not everyone loves your kids as much as you do. Be grateful I'm not sharing them. The sonic experiments, I mean.
Want to know what I'm up to right now? Maybe read something I've written? If you have any questions or just want to say hi, let me know.
Personal picks
Some things to read if you want to start getting to know me.
Manuals - A dirty love letter
What Baron Manfred von Richthofen has to do with your vacuum cleaner. And why you should always read the manual. If you want to live.
Timely news
In which I put down the law on how we consume news. What is actually timely? Why waiting beats refreshing. And why Napoleon would agree.
Our damned wandering eyes
I won't tell you boring is good. But familiarity with your creation is. And the way to get familiar is to go over the same things, again and again.
